I tried a new River today. My little brother Tim and I desided to try our luck in the tailwaters below Possum kingdom Lake Dam. After drivin through 2 1/2 hrs of rain we arrived around 10am to the Hwy 16 bridge to find only one other fly fisher there and clear blue skys. I tried just about every fly in my "boxes" only to get one hit on a green wooly. Tim had not hits at all. We did meet Mike a member of the Fort Worth Fly Fishers. He was having great luck just below the bridge on a Soft hackle. It was a pheasant tail partridge emerger patern. I didnt have anythin like it my box so Tim and I called it a day and headed home. We didnt catch any fish but we had a great trip spendin quality time together as brothers should. We are plannin a day trip to the Lil Mo next week if all goes well . It will be his first time there.

Arrived at the Park around 10am and started off with Jeff's "Can You Take It" castin clinic. After he helped me and others with our casting Gordon and I talked Jeff into fishin for a bit. I started off with a Long Creek and had a few hits but no takes. I moved around the the Flats area with Gordon and Don Jackson while Jeff moved up to the Skinny water area. I finally caught a 10'' bow on a Pheasant tail nymph just before the Wall Hole. After seein several March Brown emerge and with no other hits on the Pheasant Tail I tied on one of Jeff's  R&A March brown drys and instantly got a hit and a couple fish on. I had to many hits to count but was talkin with Ardis and Jeff and not payin attention to my fly so I missed 95% of them.
Around noon I desided to try the Meat Hole, which I have never fished before. I deside to continue with the R&A and caught a 12" bow on my first cast. For the first 30 minutes it was fish after fish. When it slowed I tried a few other drys before I started with the nymphs. I started with a Long Creek with a few hits and one fish on then went to the A&W and it was fish after fish again. I was havin fun catchin all these fish until a couple bait chunkers walk down the river a startes chunkin big lures all over the Meat Hole and spookin all the trout. They were tryin to catch Pike, at least thats what they said. All they were doin was spookin fish , splashin around in the river like they were. At that point I desided to call it a trip and head home.
I had a great trip, caught lots of fish, met some new and old friends on the river and learned several new tyin techniques from some very knowledgeable tyers at the Festival. I hope I can make it back to the river before the October Wall Hole Catherin.

Spent most of the day at the Festival but desided to try my luck on the river. I had a leak in my waders Friday so I patched them today so while they were dryin I used my hip boots just to havre the soles fall off both boots right after I entered the water. I did manage to catch one fish on an A&W below the weir at River Ridge before my wader malfunction. Hope for better luck Sunday

Arrived at the Park around 9:45am and ran into Uncle Larry right off the bat. He told me they were hit anything red. I looked in my fly box and wouldnt ya know it,,,,,nothin red in sight. I desided to try an A&W and had a few hits but no takes. I saw Jonh Davis have great luck just down from where they stock the fish at the Park. Not wanting to disturb his fishin to find out what he was fishin, I desided to try my luck at Hind Bluff.
I arrived at hinds Bluff to find Mike Hawkins and John Scarborough catchin fish left and right so I desided this was the place to be. Just as i entered to water and man and his wife showed up and desided they would chunk a few hooks right in between everyone. The husband sqeezed in between John and I and the wife got between John and Mike. Feelin the preasure I moved up river a few feet just before anothe bait chunker desided he want to fish between the husband and I. I then deside Butt Buster Shoals was where I could have alittle room, so I moved a few more yards up river again.
After a few minute Mike and John took a break so moved up where Mike was a caught a few on a Pink Weenie but had most my hook ups on a Y2K. Nothing to bragg about but nice healthy bows about 9 to 11 inches.
Started to get hungry around noon and realizin my waders were leakin , I headed for lunch and then the Festival...

I love my Korkers. I dont use mine as much as some but they are doin great for me. I like the fact that they have interchangable soles so ya can fish with felt , studded felt, klingon or studded klingon , which ever you want or whichever is leagal where you're fishin.

I joined this site in March 2010 , thanks to John Davis and AP, had my first lesson from Jeff that summer, fell in love with fly fishing at that time. I started tying flies shortly after that and havent stopped tyin & buying supplies yet.
I went to my first Festival in 2011, loved it too, and started building rods a few months later and now have 9 built rods under my belt and one ready to build. I have way more than 10 sites I buy supplies from and several Ebay sellers saved to my favoites list. ::)
I might be addicted to the sport now.... :D

We had a great time with good food and great people. We missed some faces and met some new ones.

Christopher did a great job with the blessing and I hope he had half as much fun as he seemed to. I thought it was cool havin a fish spotter on the wall helpin this old man find the fish. I need all the help I can get. ::) Him callin me "uncle Jack" made me feel special. :D

I would like to thank everyone that came and turned a good day into a very special memorable day.The only thing that could have made it better was more people.

We hope to see you all next year and mabe a few new faces as well.
