Today I was notified that the "stoplogs" would be removed soon in preparation for the spillway being opened...
Work needs to be done on the powerhouse and it will not be releasing water for a period of about 8 weeks..
The lake level will be maintained using only the spillway gates. The gates will likely open on monday....Predicted flow is something like 1,000-1,200 cfs.
Spillway creek will be unusable, but could be that after the river widens, it may possible to fish from the evening hole downstream... Just have to wait and see about that.
The park work crew started removing stoplogs today and the water levels are falling rapidly.
Stay tuned... we may or may not have a place to fish in the coming few weeks...

www.beaversbendflyshop.com Jeff has referred to Sid's in the Park. Sid is a nice guy and willing to help select flies etc.. Bob Woodruff (903) 967-2665 is the best Guide on the LMFR. Jeff is right about how slick spillway creek and LMFR is. Have to watch the dam release schedule pretty close to fish Zones 2 & 3. A guide is a good idea there to make sure you know where the catch and release areas and barbless areas are. They are not clearly marked and it is easy to slip up. The odds of getting checked is pretty high, which is good. In the winter time fishing spillway creek and the LMFR is pretty relaxing. But, in the Spring, Summer and Fall the crowds can be pretty difficult. In the lead chunking areas, fishing etiquette is nonexistent.
Personally, I think it is worth it to spend your time booking a trip with Jeff on the Little Missouri River. You will have a much more relaxing and enjoyable fishing trip. Just my opinion.
