Little river
« on: October 16, 2016, 10:49:40 PM »
Had a free afternoon after church today so I decided to try some fishing. After reading Jim's report on the lil no conditions, I thought better to try elsewhere. I know the white bass like to run way up little river to Patterson shoals this time of year chasing the shad, so I got the boat out along with my 5w and some clousers. The river was pretty low so I actually could've waded up there if I wanted to. (Didn't pack any waders however) got the boat into about 1.5 feet of water right up in the fast runs of the shoals and made a cast. First cast landed a nice white bass, maybe a pound or so. Great fight on the 5w for sure. I fished for about 2.5 hours and caught who knows how many whites, one really nice largemouth, a few spotted bass, 2 crappie and a bluegill. Quite a productive afternoon. Caught most of them on a size 4 black/white clouser. Caught the big largemouth on a pencil popper.
