Title: White Bass
Post by: GORDOBRY on March 18, 2022, 12:53:34 PM
Does Lake Greeson have white (or sand bass as they're called in Texas) bass and if so do they run up the tributaries to the lake to spawn?

There’s a very significant White Bass run up into the Upper River!

Timing is huge and it could even be happening right now, though I haven’t heard anything myself. Water temperatures and flow levels are the trigger and I suspect temperatures are probably in line, but there hasn’t been a lot of flow.

Might have to check in with SWAHA or Self Creek Marina on the north end to see if they’ve heard.

I doubt that the rest of the lake’s feeder streams would have any runs - not big enough.

I’ve seen either Stripers or VERY large Whites all the way up to the confluence of Long Creek and the Little Mo’ above Albert Pike! 😲 There was one occasion there I had sunfish on and two or four big stripey things came up from green water after it! That sunfish was never so happy to be hauled up out of the water! 🤪

Thanks Jeff.  While we don't plan on hitting Albert Pike and the upper river, we just use it as a fall back if unscheduled generation happens.  We ran into that last March, none to speak of published and they had a repair situation at the dam and were generating 24 hours a day from Monday through Thursday.  No generation on Friday when we were scheduled to leave.
