It’s 61 degrees on the river this morning-nice!! That’s about the same as the water, but think the water will cool off from here on thank goodness!! It was a rather uneventful holiday weekend, not as many fishermen on the river as I expected, but a few. The fish were happy all weekend, did well on a hot pink squiggly worm 🪱. When I say well, I mean a dozen fish or so in a 3 hour period. That’s about as good as you can hope for right now. Melissa at the Spring River hatchery will start calling for water temperatures in the next few weeks, that’s always a good sign!🤗🤗. Will keep you posted as soon as I know about the first load of fresh dumb fish 🎣. Will be nice to see some of the Erwin/Arlee cross, the Arlee, Fish Lake and the Shasta strains this year. The first stocked are usually the Fish Lake strain, usually nice fish from the Spring River hatchery. It’s later in the year we get the small fish from the catch pens (short growing time there). Hopefully the Spring River will get their circular growing tanks rebuild from the flood and we can start to get more and better fish, another year I’ll bet?? Gonna go try them again this morning, you never know unless you go.
