15 March 2023 “Just so you know!”

Fish were stocked today on the lower Little Missouri River. They were stocked at all 5 locations and on high water with 3 generators running full force!  There may already be a few hitting the Ouachita river just above Camden 🤣.

The water temperature is hovering around 50 degrees all up and down the river. Water clarity is good, which is surprising considering how much rain we have had.

I did get to fish a few hours a couple of times this past week when they had to hold water so the river could drop some down river, especially where the Little Missouri hits the Ouachita above Camden. It’s still above flood stage!  The fish 🐠 were plentiful and “fat and sassy” from all the generation, and hitting anything you threw in the water. One day I was only able to fish at the park because with all the runoff from the rains, the river was running at RiverRidge and below, just like they were generating and had a bunger valve open!!  Fast and muddy

It’s impossible to know when we will be able to Wade fish again. The “bait chunkers” are catching a few on the high water. Just have to watch the schedule and the river gages, but you can’t trust the schedule because they don’t stick to it and keep changing it. It will be that way until they get the lake and the rivers under control

One point I’d like to make. I do not post or advise when they stop generating with out notice for flood control purposes. They may stop for an hour or a day, who knows!!!  It would really piss someone off if I posted it, they drove up here and they were back generating. I try to give “real time warning” when I can if they are generating when the schedule sez they are not.  BUT NOT ALWAYS! ‼️. Being able to fish at times when they just suddenly stop generating is a perk of living on the river. 😁😁.

When things do calm down, as they always do, the fishing should be really good and the fish should be really strong. Until then remember, you can never step in the same river twice, the water is always flowing. It’s always a new adventure.
