Not been much happening on the Lil’ Mo’ the past few days, unless you count all the tubers and swimmers in the Wall Hole this past weekend!! That’s always a little odd to see, but it is August on the river. I still fished over the past few days, slow as always (I always say if it gets any slower it’ll be stopped!). Caught a few on the R & A, yellow soft hackle and a white midge larva. A friend told me he had a good day (late in the day) on that larva over the weekend. Water temperature is staying around 60 degrees and the clarity of the water is really good. That’s why that 6x or even 7X fluorocarbon is so necessary. Yea, you break off a lot, but at least you get bites 🥴🥴. Monday was a good, but strange day for me. I had honey do’s early and didn’t get to fish until about 10:30. By that time there was a really good sustained ripple on the water, it was almost like a chop, nice breeze, overcast and not too hot. I fished a few flies, and with the ripple to bounce my fly I put on the ole “Christmas Tree Jig”, just out of curiosity. I was still catching fish on it when the whistle blast sounded and the water came! You never know what’s gonna tease the fish this time of year. In this case it was the bounce from the ripple and the free flowing marabou. This morning the river was like a glass, water temp great but the fish just weren’t playing the game. What a difference a day makes.
