Generationally Speaking

Since deciphering the SWEPCO schedule is always a quandary, I’m posting an email reply I just made showing the details, hopefully, explained! 😎

“Yeah the schedule can get people a tad befuddled sometimes!

Firstly - the 24 is how many KW-Hours are being generated “during” that hour. 8 is one generator, 16 is two and 24 is all three generators running.

And the boxes show what will be generated in the hour “ending at” 11:00, for example. So if there’s a 24 in the 11:00 AM box it means releases will begin at 10:00 and ending at 11:00! Of course, for Nov 7, we had generation in every hour up to 1700.

Now - that’s military time they use, so 1700 is 5:00 PM. (Subtract 12 hours) There was generation from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the 7th, but today (10th) only from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (give or take ten minutes typically).

The schedule usually gets posted over the weekend, sometimes Friday, for the following week, so it will likely be the end of next week before we see what’s expected for the days you’re planning.

As to fly fishing - none on high water! It takes 30 minutes for high water to reach River Ridge, 45 minutes to get to the Hind’s Bluff Access, 1:45 to reach Old Factory Site and about 2:15 to Low Water Bridge! So if you’re at Riverside when the generation cranks up, scurry down to Low Water and get another two hours of fishing in!!!”

Hope this helps everyone!
